Need help choosing paint color for family room with yellow print sofa
July 22, 2013 in Design Dilemma
I am at a complete standstill -- I simply cannot select a color for my small family room with yellow, rose, green, tan collage upholstery and multi color stone fireplace. I have bounced from yellow/golds to greens to tans to rose/reds. Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I would not do yellow!!!!! Your couch or sofa would match the wall. I would go with a tan color.

I like the green that's there. Yellow will be overkill. It already almost is overkill with so many matching pieces. You might consider a solid slipcover on the chair.

I would try an off white instead of yellow. I think you are getting to much yellow. I think you should move the cabinet away from the fireplace wall, it is not allowing the fireplace to be the star.

Not yellow, I would paint the kitchen green instead so it all feels like one room.

I like the green, but I can see how you would want a brighter color. Have you thought of maybe a light blue (like robin's egg blue)? It would brighten up the room and it would compliment the yellow of the furniture as well as create a color triad with the red hues in your sofas.

Yellow would be bad ... I'm thinking off-white.

How attached are you to this couch?

I would not paint yellow... you already have yellow in your kitchen... and the sofa... and it would be way too yellow! I would go with maybe another color from your sofa... I would maybe go with a cream or tan color.

I think the green you have is ideal. It ties in with the sofa. Now you can add art in green and yellow.

Keep the green. Change the kitchen. Yellow is one of themost difficult colors to select. Change curtains away from tan, and add rug in plain green with deeper sage border to break up tan against yellow at carpet. Add white framed elements on your green walls - hanging over the fireplace is charming.
