1930s Kitchen, Before and After
July 24, 2013 in Before & After
Here's a little bit from my current binge of remodeling. The home is a 1930s modified Colonial Revival with touches of Art Deco. The wall between the formal dining room and kitchen was taken down, and the dining room relocated to a merged formal dining/living area. The goal of the remodel was to preserve certain architectural features and introduce touch of the past while fully bringing things up to date. As noted in the before photos, the kitchen was adequate but the layout was problematic, especially around the cooking zone. The new expanded kitchen now flows over (but is separate from) the formal living/dining and at the opposite end, a large family room.
