Hanging picture above fireplace mantel
July 25, 2013 in Design Dilemma
I have a 5 foot high picture to hang over a fireplace mantel that's 5'7 high with a ceiling height of 18 feet. How many inches above the mantel should I hang it?
Thank you for reporting this. Undo
Keep it at eye level. You definitely shouldn't center it vertically. 6"-8" above the mantel should be good. Hang it and see how you like it. If you go too high, your room will lose its coziness (problem with these big big walls).
