Painting Plastic Mirror Frame

Hey, y'all.
I'm new to houzz, but I've heard great things about y'alls ability to foresee potential in different items. I just bought this mirror from a local flea market. The frame is a hard plastic in a old-looking fake brass color. I'm wanting to repaint it, but I'm not quite sure what color/how to accomplish painting plastic. The mirror is quite big, probably 3'x2'.
I'd greatly appreciate y'alls help in giving me ideas on colors or ideas!
Thanks!

Depending on where you are putting it. Like in a bedroom. Use a bright accent color. Hot Pink, Aqua, lime green. There are spray paints for plastic. Even a glossy black would be nice.

Lowes hardware sells plastic primer in an aerosol can. I have used the plastic primer with great success.

You can use the plastic primer and then apply chalk paint.

You can also use DecoArt Gloss acrylic paints, comes in many colors or you can mix them together for a custom color. Think about doing a glaze over the gold, like black. Paint it on and then wipe off what you don't want. Here are a few examples:

1). Gold lamp with black glaze.
2) Craving painted black base color with gold glaze over top.
3). Clock has a gold base with green glaze then black glaze on top.
4). Frame on mirror is a gold base with black glaze over top.
