Bathroom is outdated; maze-colored fiberglass shower insert has to go

We're looking to get rid of this drab, early-70's, shower insert and expand the current space. With awkward orientation of the light fixtures the bathroom feels cramped and dark, so the addition of a window would open up the area and provide much-needed natural lighting.

If you do not need the tub, I would just gut it out and rebuild a nice walk in tiled shower with frameless glass shower doors. You will be amazed at how much larger it will seem ;)
