Should there be Space between down draft and cooktop
July 30, 2013
We are installing a 36" cooktop on an island with a single oven under neath. The problem is either I have six inches of space in front of my cooktop or space between my cooktop and down draft for everything to fit properly. Which is better?

I would opt for space between versus in front because I found that when a pot was on the back burner it would hit the downdraft. Just a thought.

Call the down draft manufacturer and inquire. It may not work as efficiently being that far from the pots and pans. Down drafts are naturaly not as efficient as the vent hoods and placing it that far away from the cooktop could even make it less efficient.
