L-shaped kitchen or just an island??

We are building our house and would love to change this kitchen design. We have a great backyard view (where the rear porch and dining room are) and would like to have the sink facing that direction (who doesn't like to look outside while you're doing the dishes??!). Should we create an L-shape and connect to that island or just take out the existing island and create countertop space with the sink facing the direction of the dining room/backyard? Then put in a freestanding island somewhere?Thoughts??
