What kind of wood did you use for the seat and backing?Did you also use a high gloss stain? So practical...I want white but my husband says it's going to get trashed. Maybe he would like this application.

The stain finish surfaces are red oak.
The seat is select red oak flooring with landing nosing for front edge...backs are beaded oak paneling. The transition between the two at the bottom of paneling is a 1x oak with routed bead edge detail. All surfaces were stained a medium brown pigmented stain and coated with three coats of gloss urethane.
We like stain grade finishes on these surfaces for contrast and durability of main contract surfaces. It holds up very well.
