Great so far... I think it's a very nice job! A few accessories on the coffee table and art. Maybe an acrylic base or glass base lamp on the table. The brown lamp makes it a little heavy in the room. I think I'd remove the vase in the corner near the window.

I'd add more pillows to the sofas, in a stripe or something. This looks a bit too much 'showroomy'. I think that will liven it up. And indeed, a few accessories on the coffee table...

Went on a short shopping spree at Westelm for you (not sure if they are the right colours though):

You're welcome. I did take the liberty of adding some accessories to your table too, just to show you what a difference that would make. Pottery Barn has some interesting videos on decorating (I use a tray as shown in this video, to keep things organized. At least, I think it is this video...) http://www.potterybarn.com/design-studio/video/coffee_table_basics.html

Boxy, brown and bling-less! Only the chandy and the hold backs for the drapes have sparkle.

The blue will brighten up the room, and bring some balance to all the red.

I wouldn't use blue lamps. I think you need acrylic or clear glass for lamps. I think you have enough colors with the pillows. Could add another color accent to the sofa for pillows, but would not use a color for the lamps.

I think I would find pillows that have a predominate light background and a touch of the blue. LIght against dark brown sofa is a better contrast, I think. Like what 'Pure Home' posted.

Thanks LB! We agree that you need some lighter colors in your space. It is probably one of those design things that may feel outside of your comfort zone, but once you actually put the light blues in, you will be amazed at the difference it makes!

I really like the pattern, but I can't see the dark blue work with the brown and red. They may look gorgeous on your sofas though, not sure.
(The one I picked was dark brown, really difficult to see, but in case you're thinking... huh, but she picked a blue one herself ;-))

Looks good but maybe you could put a library table (made of a lighter wood) or sofa table that has a lower shelf underneath and add some baskets for storage. On top of the table put some neat decorative pieces.
Instead of your lamp and table you could use a floor lamp. I have several that I use. They look nice
with drum shades. They don't take up so much space. Add a nice big piece of art above your TV and lastly
maybe replace the dark rug with a little lighter colored rug with the popular chevron pattern or lattice.

Possibly a different lamp and not more than three pillows with different colors and/or prints And the idea of a sofa table or round coffee table
