The block look is supposed to mirror my interior kitchen Island concept but I don't think that is important or is it?
The 2nd one is more interesting to me........any opinion? These will be in stone slabs and black metal insert

The fireplace in the 3D rendering looks like a double sided unit. Are you thinking of replace the current fireplace surround ?

Neither is bad, but without seeing what else is going on in the area, it's a little hard to make a recommendation.

Can you send me the SketchUp files and the floor plan? I'll be glad to work up some options for you.

Never mind. :-)

I like the second idea better. I like the idea of mixing a smooth concrete or porcelain tile with a natural stone texture or glass mosaic.

Very nice.

Coastroad I like your style. Wondering if the 2nd one is too busy. Should I eliminate the lined stone panel below the firebox in your opinion? Also I like the idea of mixing sheen and flat finishes which I can do. Thanks!

- I think what you have drawn is dramatic, but I'd concentrate only on horizontal lines with the materials changes.

Maybe a little suggestion of a hearth wrapped around the bottom edge of the fireplace opening would help break it up. It wouldn't have to project much - a few inches maybe.

ohhhhh, I like that idea. Are you suggesting that the lined panel below box be a projection of 3 or 4 inches in the plain stone? I need to send you a photo one of our clients brought in. We did do it for her, very simple but does have the suggestion of a hearth. thanks again!!

Send a couple inspiration photos and the SketchUp file to me at tom@coastroadonline.com. We can play with a few permutations.
