New paint!
August 23, 2013 in Design Dilemma
So I am in the process of getting a new mantel in the living room which of course now needs a total remodel. My house is a 65 California Ranch with a total open floor plan. Living room, open to dining room, kitchen, then family room. I was thinking of painting it with Benjamin Moore Greenbriar beige. Would this be too much beige and also what about accent wall behind fireplace maybe a rusty color. If too much where do you begin or end? Any advice greatly appreciated.

I love the choice of paint you are thinking of, but do not love the job you now have to paint this huge area. It will be nice to have it wamed up with that color. I cannot see the fireplace or the mantle to think about an accent color????

May I suggest that when you are taking things down to paint to take down the current curtains that I see.....they are dating your area, which you do now want. You might be happy with just the blinds once you are done painting anyway.

Thank you and yes it is huge area to paint. Agree about curtains and they will come down. Will update furniture and new wood floor. The wall behind fireplace goes up approximately 20 feet. Here is a picture of fireplace

Take a look in the mirror and see what is reflected and then decide if you want a mirror there again or a piece of art instead.

I will be honest and say I am not crazy about accent walls and would prefer you paint all of them the same.
