What should I do with my windows?

I think I'd prefer white so as to not color clash with any furniture I choose to buy.

Thanks!

Get your furniture first....once it's in, you'll have a much better idea of what kind of window treatment will look best. honest. just live with what you have for now. you won't be sorry in the long run.

I would agree with Laurence - there are more choices for window treatments than for furniture, so it will be easier to find a window treatment to complement the furniture after you have some direction for the space. The answer also depends on some more information:
what practical concerns are there - do you need more privacy, more insulation, more light control, more view?
what style do you prefer - contemporary, traditional, something in between (transitional)?
Do you have any artwork going into the space? Sometimes even a great poster can launch you into an inspiration for the space.
Are you renting or do you own? That affects the budget.
How long do you expect to live here? That too affects the budget.
Where do you live? That may affect the kind of style or colors you choose...

Know that you can find window treatment specialists in the directory at the Window Coverings Association of America - www.wcaa.org. Most of the designers who specialize in window treatments will come to your home and can help you with suggestions on location. I live in Northern Virginia, and work throughout the metropolitan Washington DC area.

For more ideas, check out my projects, most of which include window treatments, and my ideabook on window treatments, as well as my website - I have a window treatment portfolio page, and a design your own shade page, which also might be of interest.

Best wishes,
Linda Bassert
