Not sure if I should leave it, whitewash or paint it? I like fresh and modern. It totally has me stumped! Thank you in advance for any ideas!

I like this room! But, yes, paint it a bit darker than your walls with a glossy paint, unless you totally want to resurface it. I don't think whitewashing it will be fresh and modern.

Paint it dark gray. Doesn't work with your style now.

Love the rug very nice. Good job.make sure FP is 2 shades darker than walls. By the way what is color of walls.? Love it. Maybe one day you can dry wall it and put in stacked stone in the blue gray colors. That would WOW the rm.

Add some white birch logs in firepl. Then add a gray basket with the same logs on hearth.

Also, you don't need candlesticks on mantel to cluttered mirror stands alone.

This example is a BM texas leather. Ties in with your decor and it will make your mirror pop!

Charcoal gray, masonry paint in semi gloss. Slate seems to be the deepest tone in the rh slate series besides obsidian - too dark. Test sw garret gray http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW6075-garret-gray/ / bring home lots of gray chips to see what has the same undertone as your slate.

Graywash is a neat eclectic or cottage technique but your decor reads modern so a deeper solid is best.
