Kitchen/living

This is my 23 year old daughters home she bought. As you can see it was a short sale with the kitchen completely gone. The slate is 8x10 and suppose to be the kitchen the previous owners had a standard stove in the middle with glass blocks behind trying to create a look of an island. The second picture is standing in the doorway looking into the room. This is suppose to be kitchen living room but can not come up with a design. She has a ss side by side to move to the rt corner. Her cabinets will be a cherry she likes greys and bright colors teals all blues but afraid of a house of just blues. All ideas encouraged tight budget friends.

I would like to see the slate removed and replaced with hardwood flooring to match what is in the rest of the space. That would give the best overall cohesive look to the space. However, I now see what looks like a washer/dryer connection on the wall to the right of the French doors. Is that the case?

Have to agree with Carolyn... that is some ugly tile.
The question of whether or not matching wood is still available for a "lace in" needs to be addressed.
BTW... Those connections are for the refer more than likely.

You're right, Select, of course they are for the fridge, not the W/D! Silly me!

Is your daughter much of a cook or is the microwave her best friend? Does she like to stock up on groceries or buy as she goes? Those things would play into my suggestions.

She tends to stock up she does cook bakes more! It is the refidgerator hook up. We was going to possibly put the refrigerator in the right corner left wall so not just sticking out from the wall. We would love to Change the slat but the budget is running low with having to get appliances and cabinets, countertops. The previous owners did not leave the floor they took up! We are needing help! Thanks!!
