Need help decorating second floor landing..............

This is what you see when you get to the top of the stairs to the second floor. There are two bedrooms, a bonus room and a bathroom on this floor. How can I make this landing more warm and welcoming?

Maybe turn this little cabinet so it is on the wall with the outlet and put a fun little slipper chair in that corner. Try a gallery wall behind the cabinet of family members?

You can try a high plant were the little cabinet is with a painting on the wall in front of the doors .

How about if I were not using the little cabinet or the lamp - if it were a blank space.

Brown leather bench with some pillows on it. Little spot to sit for a spell and maybe even set things down.

I suggest a wall mounted fireplace on the side wall and a chair with throw and pouf next to the door.

I think it is important that the walkway be unobstructed, and that the two walls tightly relate in order to knit them into your welcoming space. A chair can welcome, but needs a view to keep it from looking like hall detention. Artwork might also be used instead of the fireplace on the side wall, but as a visually weightier choice, it should be repeated on the back wall to keep focus centered.

I don't think the cute little chest really goes in that area. It's just not the right proportion. I do love the picture that indianpatti posted and abbyjeans ideas of a gallery and bench.

I agree with a bench along the long wall and something tall in the corner... A plant or a floor vase with branches.
