how long did it take to get the wisteria to grow to that point?

Wisteria grows very quickly so probably only a couple of growing seasons. You would just have to train the new growth in the direction you needed. I would guess that they've had to trim away the bottom growth.

Mine just bloomed after 15 years last year, it was so gorgeous but it doesn't look like it will bloom this year. When I purchased the plant I was told it wouldn't bloom for at least 7 years. I live in Illinois.

I lived in Ohio and it bloomed in 3 years. I would estimate the above growth to be spring of the plant's second season if it was planted from a pot.

I bought a wisteria tree from QVC on the show Cottage Farms last year and it bloomed last year, twice. This year I have bulbs about to bloom. If you're looking, Cottage Farms is the way to go. By the way, I love your arbor with it.
