What exterior color to match roof?

Carrie Abfall, RealtorAugust 26, 2013
The roof is a brown and orange shingle... can't change it. the windows are replacement and white - so trim and gutters will remain white. What color? I'm in need of ideas....

I would go with kind of a paper bag color. This would provide a neutral color in contrast with the roof and yet still a color (as opposed to "beige"), and would provide the mid-tone between the white windows and dark roof. The shutters could then be a version of the roof color. You could also repeat this color on the front porch trim board and column. Is the front door wood or painted? If you want to add in an accent color, you could paint the front door (and storm/screen): black would be classic, a bright blue would be more contemporary or gray-green would be a lovely accent. Also, I think I would paint the gutters and vent at the peak in the ceiling color, too, to give it a bit more "heft". Finish it off with some solid window boxes planted with flowers in the same rusty colors (add a little purple for a nice accent, too)

A gray body would also work. Just depends on whether you prefer a cool palette or warm palette.

I was thinking of a color a bit deeper than this, but this gives the idea with the white windows.

Sorry, lol - I meant the roof/shutter color. Too much multi-tasking!

I would try to match the tone of the roof on the front door.

Then I would paint the house sage green. BM Texas Sage.

Shutters the same as the siding, sage, but painted in a high gloss. You will still be aware of the shutters, but not using another color.

Hi Carrie......I would suggest BM Storm for the body, and the foundation, and BM White Dove for the shutters and the overhang on the porch. The front door White Dove. The face of the overhand large house numbers.
It would add to the curb appeal if you would create a raised planter of railroad ties next to the porch, from the
left corner of the house and going out the same depth, and meeting where the column is. This would diffuse
the electric meter, and filled with varying heights of annuals add wonderful color.
