How to soften the look of ugly sliding glass doors.

Door is awkwardly placed. Ultimately, I may put in French doors, but meanwhile: suggestions to soften these ugly doors?

Paint trim same color as wall if you want the sliders to retreat--do you want window treatments?

BBB has some woven window coverings for sliders that use rings/curtain rods...
we bought the cafe curtains to use on window in our kitchen in FL vacation home but they make version for sliders...
doesn't totally obscure the window behind but they only come in a dark brown version--
you would probably want something lighter...

They are not really that ugly. Maybe you could just paint the tan out on the trim. You wouldn't want to lose that view by covering up the glass in any way.

They aren't bad! I think they stand out because they are on that bright white wall, next to that creamy/orange paint. How about a nice curtain/window treatment around it to pull in that terracotta colors you have to work with. This shouldn't be a problem since your fireplace looks like gas. OR if the frame of the sliding glass door is wood, how about staining it, or painting it to match the wood mantle.

I was thinking about a header, more than curtains. We have a bit of a lovely garden beyond, I want to be able to see it. I agree with your color statement, though. I think it would look good painted to match (or coordinate) with the mantel. the frame is metal, but I should be able to find a similar tone paint.

Would it look to weird if the frame was painted in black like the fireplace and the table. I think it might frame the beautiful patio.

I would extend that accent color to include slider wall. Then add a pretty cornice board over slider in a coordinating color. I agree your view of the patio is lovely. I like the whole room!
