Is the board and batten siding solid wood or cement board?

It is solid wood -- stained cedar. Cement board can work for that, but the horizontal joints (on tall panels) are sometimes a problem because unless you cover it with trim (which sort of goes against the look) sometimes the joint looks flimsy due to the thinness of the cement board.
