Help!- Formal lounge furniture
August 31, 2013 in Design Dilemma
We're looking to buy new furniture for our formal lounge. Would love to hear from people as to what type of sofas/ lounges would look good.

Can we just play with what you have for a moment to get a better feel for the room? Move the two chairs apart and put one of them in the corner to the left of the fireplace. Take the small picture down off that wall and put the end table by the chair you move there on the window side.

Do not drape the curtains to the side...let them hang naturally.

Put the curio flat on the wall instead of at an angle.

Center the sofa WITH the window it is near and then bring the other one near to it, making an L. Put an end table between them and center the coffee table with the one facing the fireplace. This may mean that the table inside the door has to move....can it go behind the couch as a sofa table? Lower the pic on that wall.

Forgot you have one more chair....maybe it can stay where it is, but angled toward the room more on the edge of the window there.

Clear off the mantle and just have the mirror alone there.

A rolled arm sofa would go well w your current furnishings. This one brings in some of the green in the view from the window:

Pair of queen Anne chairs to combine the green with yellow gold metal accents already in the room:

Wing chairs are the classic choice w Queen Anne styling. These are a current interpretation of the style, and recline:

And a side table to lightly coordinate:

May I ask what's staying in the room? The glass display cabinet? Mirror? bronze console table?

Looking at some of your furnishings Its a little shabby chic! and classic. so I would look at lighter in colour and something soft and comfortable, like you just have to sit in me look! It would fit in nicely with the drapes and I think the room is large enough to take them.
