Need help with furniture placement
September 1, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Our NJ house was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. We have been slowly rebuilding and I am getting to the point of purchasing furniture. We have a rectangular family room with a sliding glass door on one side and a bay window on the opposite side. It was originally the garage which was converted to living space. We are going to open the ceiling up to make it cathedral which will make the large solid wall even more prominent. There is a step down to the room from another living area. I've attached pictures of what it used to look like and what it looks like now. The table will not be in the living room going forward. This is just a staging area of the house now. I need to merge the two spaces. I'm considering a sectional near the bay window to free up space near the slider. We are considering replacing the slider with a fixed window to give us more living space. Should I continue to center the entertainment area on the big wall or shift it to one side or another? We do get plenty of visitors during the summer months. I really appreciate any suggestions.
