I Have a formal Dining Room and Living Room with two windows but the walls are grey. I now need window treatments, have no idea what color family or style to consider. Any suggestions

Beautiful room, great details with the modeling and ceiling. I might try a bold red floor to ceiling. It may go well with the cherry color furniture you have.

You have such beautiful old trim around your windows. I'd probably choose something like inset roman shades so the woodwork would still be visible.

Inset shutters the same colour as your windows would look amazing!

Roman shades, patterned fabric with red in it :-)

And for the larger windows, neutral coloured floor to ceiling curtains with a wide bottom hem, or more narrow end hem (vertically, where the fabric touches if you close them) of the fabric used for the Roman shades.

Dorneman5 is correct. Don't skimp on fullness of drapery or rod. To show off modeling you can hang rod 6 inches on each side of window to reveal of a little molding. I also would suggest a beautiful wooden rod. Soniaabi, trust your instinct it appears you have good taste:)

Please, don't go for full red curtains. They will make your room dark and 'kill' it.
Gold could be very nice.Good combination with red and grey.

Really a beautiful room! I would go with a shade on shade warmer color shade in a richer fabric, perhaps something like a damask. Perhaps in deep red, something like a russet red.
