Landscape help
September 4, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Hate the current landscaping. What can I do to make these boxwoods look better? Should I plant something behind them or in front of them?

I think it would look nice if you plant some behind these plants and try to give it some different shape as well.

My guess is your trimming them into a hedge. Your little begonias get lost don't they. Perhaps something that blooms white in front, the color of the house, now that you have that green back drop behind. Don't know what zone you're in but would suggest planting with the seasons until the boxwoods fill the entire space in; white petunias, geraniums, tulips, mums, alyssum or even some low creeping roses.

stop pruning them into balls and let them fill in to make a solid hedge. Then put some flowers in front that aren't lined up like little soldiers but rather in a more natural varied way so perhaps some drape a bit over the brick edge. Just my opinion, not a professional by any stretch.
