I want white trim! But have oak trim the entire house.

Our older house, built in the late 60's has natural color solid oak trim and natural birch doors through out the entire house. Every where I look on Houzz I see predominately white trim. It goes so much better with so many wall colors. And rooms just look so bright and up to date with white trim. It would be a huge job, and I feel bad to cover up this expensive solid wood trim - but would it be worth it, and would it look good? Has anyone here done this? Would I need to strip it, or sand it, or use Kilz? Would it look odd to leave the doors alone and just do trim in white? What would be the best color and type of paint to use?

It would be worth it, and yes, it will look really fresh and updated. The doors can be left stained if you like, stained darker, or painted. I recommend painting the trim and then decide on the doors. Updating door hardware will make a huge impact, as well. It will need to be cleaned, primed and painted with at least a semi-gloss paint for durability.
