Need Help with Master Bedroom

I bought this Comforter set and designing my Master Bedrrom around it. Need to decide on wall paint color and drapes and drapery rod. The drapes need to be blackout/energy efficient because that side of the house is quite chilly in winter and has bright sunlight in the early morning in the summer. No floaty sheer drapes for me. The flooring is wall to wall light gray carpet.

Pretty bedding! Do you have any photos of your room to help get an idea of what might work?

Room is a boring square room with wall to wall grey carpenting. Not much to show. No headboard but plan to purchase creme/beighe tufted headboard

Does the bedding have gray and beige/linen colors in the floral pattern? Hard to see.

Wall paint? The same gray as your rug, but much lighter. Drapes the color of the pillows.

Grey to match the carpet would make the bed stand out as the feature.

Before you take off painting your walls consider buying a sample of the color or colors you think may be perfect for you. I chose two shades of gray, one light and the other just a bit darker and painted my den, kitchen, dining room and half bath. I chose them from the colors mentioned on the Fifty Shades of Gray piece here on Houzz and then picked up the paint strip at the paint store. I'm so happy with the colors I chose but when deciding on colors for my grandson's and granddaughter's rooms I bought samples! Paint a small section the same way you would if you were painting the whole room. Use two coats of primer and two coats of paint. Live with it until you know whether you love it or hate it! If you hate it, try another sample, if you love it, go for it!

By the way, I think gray would be great for the walls and have the drapes match the pillows as others have suggested. Take both the solid color pillow and the print pillow when you pick out your fabric. You may be surprised at which shade pops out at you!

I'm seeing something more plum to contrast with the gray carpet. The darker one might look brown but it actually matches the pillows. The curtains could be monochromatic or very light grey or cream like the headboard.

i like those comments on having bedding be your guide to colour choices. it's not impossible to do a light sheer for the summer behind the black out curtains- to allow for controlled natural lighting in the daytime. that way you get the best of both worlds. hang the black outs on Ball Swing Curtain Rods allows the light in when open and adds depth and privacy to the room
