Need feedback for kitchen backsplash

I am having second thought on my kitchen tile backsplash choice on our new home being built. I initially wanted a glass backsplash but since we have a patterned granite (giallo), the designer told us it's better to stick to a simple one. I chose this tile in ivory but now eyeing on a simple subway tile in light brown but I have to add an extra $500 for that. I've attached a photo of the tile and the granite. I don't have a picture of the subway tile but I have seen a picture here in Houzz that looks like it.

Hi Alma04,

Trust your instinct! I LOVE your idea of the glass backsplash! It truly adds another element to your kitchen. Glass also adds a dressy and clean look without making your space look flat. So now you will have a balance of materials and surfaces: glass, granite [stone], and wood [cabinetry]. I personally installed glass subway tile to our previous condo. It's super easy to clean as well. Hope this help! Please post 'after' pics! It's always so fun to see end results!

Warm regards,

Thanks Pure Home. Been trying to attach a pictue from my ideabook that I saw here but couldn't figure out. That is exactly how my kitchen would look like with the subway tile

You're certainly welcome! You can copy the link of that image from your ideabook and paste it as a comment on here. :)

YOu could always just add a glass band with that tile.

Thanks Directbuy of Fort Worth. The designer suggested that to me but to do that would cost me $800.

I finally talked to my builder and they still allow me to make the change so I chose the subway tile for a cleaner look

I like the glass subway ... the other tile is too matte.

This was the look that I wanted at first because I love the idea of a glass backsplash but the interior designer told be it will look to busy with a giallo granite countertop

Or this one with just an accent in the middle on a plain tile.

Which backsplash look do you think would go best with the giallo ornamental granite? Feedback please ;)

I agree with your designer that the busy multi-colored glass mosaic tile will be too chaotic competing with the granite. So no to that one. I also think lines of accent tile end up looking just as busy and also "date" a kitchen sooner than a simple backsplash without accents. So no to the accent stripe. I love the idea of a single color of glass subway tile, so that would be my first choice, followed by the more matte ivory tile in your first photo.

Thanks Feeny. I guess I'll pick the subway tile then. I want to go for a look that is modern yet classic and would never go out of style. I can sleep good tonight. Appreciate the feedback!
