I've noticed on Houzz (including me) that if we had bucks to do a remodel...the master bath would be next!

builders keep building all these houses with wall "niches" in them, and no one has any idea what to do with them. there must be a half dozen "design dilemmas" per week on Houzz on this topic. can you blog about that?

How about a blog about decorating against the trend & or how to take any style & keep it from looking outdated.

I think that decorating rooms with soaring ceilings and windows is something that we all struggle with. Decorating these rooms on a budget is extremely difficult and is something that would be of interest.

My living room doesn't have any windows. Center of house with vaulted popcorn ceiling. Budget decorating is always an issue. Hoping to start remodeling bathroom next month after I work 25 days straight.

Recurring "dilemmas"
1. Paint or not to paint brick FP
2. Granite Vs Quartz counters
3. Hardwood or tile floors?
4. How to select backsplash with "busy" granite.

I'd like to discuss emerging trends in exterior paint and brick and mortar colors. I'm tired of taupe-tones.

I'd also like to explore unbiased advances and alternatives in vinyl and aluminum siding, bricks, mortar, and which products have been developed for which regions/weather conditions.

How about architectural trends? What style of home are most people building today?

I'd like a discussion about contractor nightmares and how to avoid them. One could get a long list of references, call them all and get glowing recommendations, but they could all be the contractor's relatives. So what's the homeowner supposed to do?

A similar dilemma exists for home inspectors. If we are considering buying a used home or new construction, how do we select the best home inspector who will be thorough enough to look at wiring through a few switch plates, outlets and the breaker box; who will look at the pipes to make certain the drains are draining; who will look for signs of water damage and mold; who will, in short, do the job for which he/she's been hired. Should they be indemnified by an insurance company or licensed by the state? Should they guarantee their work for a certain length of time? And, yes, new construction DOES need inspection. We cannot trust all those city/township inspections bc, sadly, we just don't know the relationship, political or otherwise, between the builder and the inspector. M

I'd like to see Houzz have 2 ideabooks---one for professional ads & the other for "reg" houses.
