I know it was a typo, but I got a chuckle anyway. Especially on football Sunday…go Pats.

Have you considered two sofas, back to back? You could have a huge rug, two separate rugs…lots of possibilities.

Thanks for answering. My room is so small and narrow and it is our main living room so TV viewing is important

12 x 20 isn’t small. A 6 foot sofa centered in the room gives you 3’ on either side to walk around. Two sofas, back to back, take up around 7’ of your 20’ room.

Hold on…just thought of another layout.

Something like this. Two chaises, side by side with one additional seat…no arms.

carolins, like your room, but sue’s t v is on the short wall…so 20 ‘ long but only 12’ wide and there is no solid long wall. We need to find a way to help face the 12’ wall.

sue, the pix I posted with the two chaises…would that layout work?

You could do 2 of this style, facing each other, with the armless ends facing the short (t v) wall. Double duty…lie down and watch the t v, and still sit up to face each other for conversation.

Think I’ve got it. the other long “wall”, is it open to another room? Can a sofa be placed here with the back to the open area?

Can you do this? On the open long side, you face a sofa length of a sectional to the fireplace and the shorter piece of the sectional facing the t v.

You still have about 9’ between the sofa and the fireplace, plenty of room for a coffee table to accommodate the entire sectional and one corner of the fireplace can have an additional chair.

Like this…in this picture, the windows represent your long open wall area and the right side of this picture is where your fireplace is. The other part of the sectional is facing your t v. Am I getting the picture? Hehehe.

The only other thing I can think of is just to have all chairs in the room. With a round coffee table in the middle of the room you could surround it with swivel chairs to take advantage of both the t v and the fireplace. Hang a great chandy over the coffee table.

Oh, it is not what I imagined. I thought your room was more open space.

I think I would put the t v over the fireplace, the two beige chairs at each window. and the ottoman in front of the sofa to put your legs up on. When entertaining, get a great tray to put on top.

The pic I posted is actually the front of an ideabook. If you follow the link under the picture it will lead you to more ideas and photos of furnishing a narrow long(ish) room.

I would definitely NOT put the TV over the fireplace. Very uncomfortable for watching! TV needs to be at eye level. Above fireplace at that viewing distance is a pain in the neck.

I actually like what you have done. Apart from everything that's going on above the TV. That's a bit too much for my liking. But I think that you have a lovely, very cozy and inviting room.
