Changing shutter & door colors, red door on front & back or just the f

We just moved into an almost 100-yr-old colonial that needs some exterior help...& interior (please excuse the missing window grid-the replacement has been ordered). Because it is siding (& not clapboard), we've decided to give it a quick color update by painting the shutters & doors as opposed to the whole house. I have chosen to paint the shutters & planters black with a red front door; however, I'm having a difficult time choosing what color to paint the back door. We use the back door much more often than the front so I'm wondering if it would be too much to paint it red as well. I just don't want the back to look too blah because it used more often...

Is the bay window side your front door? Do you think that this was an addition at some point? New windows…love to see another picture looking at the window box side .It looks like a Greek Revival.

I do suggest removing the shutters on the bay window. Too small.

I would paint the front door a shiny black and your back door the red you love.

Yes, bay window is the front. We're also looking into getting the power line moved (if possible). The back with the deck was the addition in the 80s. Thanks for the advice!

I also think if possible the shutters on the bay window should come off. I like them black and think the red in the picture from previous poster would look great in front and/or back! The edges are a little tall for me and cutting them down would help visually for me. It is a beautiful home!

I bet your home looked something like this Boston area Greek Revival when you front door was on the street side and before new windows were installed.

Love that home--so much character! Now if only my landscaping could look like it does in that picture...
And you guessed it- we're in the Boston area

House is getting there...still need to get the front door knocker on, 2nd floor shutters painted black, and that power line moved. Thanks for input--left the bay window shutters off & still need to clean the siding where they were
