Bathroom tile help! Mud set vs thin set

We are in the process of building a house. They need to know if we want to to mud set or thin set in the bathrooms. When I asked what the difference was they said the space between the tiles. But when I look it up online it doesn't say anything about the spacing if tiles.

This is a big cost difference! Any help on explaining the two is much appreciated!

I don't know what mud set is but I would use thin set. Don't allow them to use tile mastic as it holds moisture and can lead to mildew and mold. Did they say mud set is how they were going to attach the tile or something else?
