The flooring if I remember correctly is called Fine line birch, it was a pre-finished engineered floor. It looks great and feels great but it is quite soft.

I understand (from an ideabook featuring this photo) that this floor is installed over a radiant floor. What kind of radiant floor system did you use, and did the use of radiant dictate the kind of wood flooring you used? I am trying to figure out how to finish and warm my basement, so any insights would be appreciated.

The radiant system pictured above was installed through a warmboard subfloor system. If you already have a forced air system in your house adding the radiant heat as a second heating system just for the basement will most likely be an expensive exercise, even though your feet would love it.

Thank you for the reply. I will check out warmboard. I have been looking around online and am starting to realize that radiant floors may be too costly. (I do have forced air upstairs already.) But I have major allergies so my sinuses and lungs, as well as my feet, would love radiant.
