I don't actually have any checker pattern in my home, but I love this look in a retro kitchen, and black + white is a classic combo that never goes out of style! :)

Looks gorgeous in this space! My son purchased a home and is now redoing the checkerboard tile.

I have black and white checkerboard vinyl in my red and white kitchen. Love the look, but it is very hard to keep clean.

I have a checkerboard in two places, kitchen and basement. The basement has a guest suite with a bath. I bought the house with it badly done, and only partially. There was black tile in a part of the "bedroom". During renovation I used a checkerboard pattern to transition from black to white, for a brighter space, and think it looks great.

I think checkerboards are as timeless as animal prints. They can be wood stained or painted. Light or dark. Contrasting or blended. So versatile.

I did one wall with large checkerboard & it was a really fun look for a boy. Def a timeless kitchen look--think I would get sick of it if used in a livingroom

One of the most beautiful foyers I've ever seen had a black and white marble in a checker pattern. It was very old and the patina was exquisite.

Early first home had the checkered tiles in living and dining - lots of antique oriental rugs, furniture, art and books. Wallpaper was grey ticking stripe.

I have no checkerboard floors but do love them. I brought the checkerboard in my kitchen with MacKenzie Childs accents, it's something;)

This is a Master Bathroom that I did 8 years ago for a customer. The customer wanted an Elvis themed bathroom (even had an Elvis shower curtain! :-)). I also did a black and white octagon tile mosaic floor to compliment the tub surround. The pictures of this bathroom have been popular with Houzz viewers who are adding them to their bathroom idea books.

I love black and white checkerboard. I would have been my second choice for the floor in our kitchen that we are working on now. But I fell in love with this.

dolneysr, thank you! That is what I thought when I saw it...looks like marble, but isn't. It is Florim USA Millenium porcelain tile from Menards. It was the first thing I saw and that decided it.
