FORMAL LIVING ROOM needs elegance
Monique

The walls in formal living room are Miller Evo premium color: Tasting Room (purplish red), ceilings allibaster.
Flooring acacia asian walnut hardwood.
Blinds are Hunter Douglass Pirouette -Very light Silver color

Split level home. Pictures show different views/angles of empty space.

1 picture shows living room coming from the entry way, the barrel top in front of the fireplace will be hung up somewhere else.
The dining room is 2 steps down and has a large granite (green, multi colored table) with highback chairs, crystal chandelier.

I want to get living room furniture and maybe a rug, contemporary, but with elegant style and timeless design.
I am thinking silver colors?

What are your ideas and what colors should I stick to?

To bring in some color a nice swag that puddles to the floor and is held up with a rod or pulled through a jabot.I think you would be able to tie into the color of the walls, and soften the room.

That is a beautiful space! Love the rounded stair steps- the floors are gorgeous. With such a big space, building your fireplace floor to ceiling would make a beautiful, elegant focal point for the room. You could go with a cream colored or browns, with purple hues in the veneer to match your paint color.

I would love to see either 2 sofas facing each other (perpendicular to the fireplace) or 1 sofa with 2 facing chairs. I like the above suggestions of light colored timeless pieces and silver accents.

I would suggest a sofa, two chairs and a backless chaise. That way, you could put the bench/chaise floating, or in front of the FP. The sofa and chairs opposite each other. Or, the chairs flanking the FP, etc. Lots of versatility with sofa/chairs.
