Is it okay for that wooden bench to get wet? I suppose it is, but what kind of wood is it? Does it need a special finish?

Shawn Lagemann Most benches found in showers are make from teak. It is fine for them to get wet, and simple teak oil rubbed on will keep them from changing patina. There are several websites that have premade teak benches, frontgate.com has a sililar sized bench to the one in the picture.
