Proper height of bedside table lamps? How high?

I have a West Elm Midcentury modern bed and a matching nightstand. Wondering what size lamp for the stand? How tall? and assume the shade will be proportional to height of lamp base.

It depends on your table height. Make sure the lamp is tall enough that it will cast light on to your book or what ever you are looking at in bed. If it is too high, the bulb in the lamp will be glaring when you are laying down of reading, too low and it won't put light intro the room. Looking at the cute night stand, I would guess 24-28" high. If you want a taller one, you can get a shade and have a "diffuser" made for it from a lamp store so that the bulb isn't annoying. Hope this helps as guidance.
