Front door: I love red front doors but is it ok with brick?

My front door has a beautiful white decorative molding around it and then is surrounded by 3 or 4 feet of brick on either side. the door is currently black. (white house) Would a red door be ok next to brick? If so, what color red would work? Any other ideas to warm up the welcome???

I like the black...Is painting the shingles out of the question?

Black is nice, but maybe a dark gray? Mine would be red as a fire truck or yellow as a daisy but in my neighborhood we change door colors to have refresher often.

Navy looks well with brick ( though the black does, too!)

I think your front door would look fantastic painted red. With the red brick surrounding it, it will have more impact when viewed from a distance. Look for an earthy red that has a lot of brown/terra cotta in it.

If you trimmed down a lot of the landscaping around the house, specifically reshaping the larger trees/bushes, I think you would notice that it would help everything get a nice fresh update .. to match your door! :)

I agree that a red door would look great. You asked about other ways to warm up the welcome. I don't see the sidewalk approach to the front door. Do you have a welcoming pathway that leads to the front door?

I think a dark, brick-toned red would be perfect. I think I'd also like to see a semi-circular area of paving around the front door as a welcoming space, linking to a pathway.
