Should I paint the wall's gold/yellow or what about black? The TV will be mounted of course and I will display my blue&white vases on the top shelves and other items below. Any suggestions??

Help me in SC, thanks.

Depends on what the rest of the room looks like.

sometimes the shelving looks best painted the same colour as the wall, this would feature the fireplace better and showcase the items you display on the shelves as well!

You might keep the fresh, crisp look that white creates. And it appears your furniture is dark, so painting builtins a darker color I fear might cause you to feel like you're in a cave! Accessorize with your blue and white and you'll have a dynamite space. My concern is addressing the expanse of wall between the arch and the ceiling. I would consider doing something to allow the eye to move upward, making the builtins "feel" as though they are full height of the wall.

If you wish to paint the walls and like yellow I think I would go for more of a crisp lemon! It gives more options for furnishings and doesnt look so heavy as to dominate the room! the white shelving would look much better also!

I wouldn't go with black, it makes a space feel much smaller.

A charcoal gray would be better than black. It warms without overpowering. Also if you go with yellow maybe paint the back of the built ins in the same color. If you want to go bold go for it. It's your house you choose

Yes you could but I think if you want to keep the white, putting a nice wall paper on the back of the selves would be better and you can introduce some colour! Maybe even pick up the wall colour in the wall paper, just a touch would be great! with some white and even a teal colour, then you can use those colours in your cushions etc!
