How do I rebuild my sandy soil?!
September 25, 2013 in Design Dilemma
I live in SF and my soil is terrible: very sandy - aquaphobic even! I've been mulching, peat mossing, fungi and bacteria'ing, perliting, composting and vermicropping for 2 years now with little improvement. HELP!

Good soil is a combination of sand, organic matter, and clay. Sounds like you are missing the clay. Gypsum can also help. Not the best source for clay, but bentonite comes ground up in a bag at your local home improvement store.
