I've been in my home for almost 5 years. Hoping to be able to buy new living furniture. What we have is worn and now I've had to put chair covers on leather furniture. HATE IT. Need to know if the way and size pieces I have there now is the best use of the space. I need design ideas please... thank you/1

This is a good start. Love the bright walls!
The room is crying out for an area rug, so make that part of your plan.
I would go light-colored with the new sofa and chair. In addition, I think you could use another upholstered piece across from the leather chair, facing the coffee table. It could be either a similar chair, or a loveseat. Add large pillows with prints that pick up the bright color, and add some contrast.

You need to find a better way to display your family photos, because you should free up the coffee table and end tables. You could make a photo montage perhaps on the end wall over the bookcases..?

so, you don't think I should go with deep brown or I was thinking red or in the red family? Ignore that office chair in the entry way. My husband had cancer a few years ago and needed an upright chair and until I can get him something else, won't let this one go. LOL. Yes, I love my family and have lots of pictures and do need a new way to display them. So you think the placement is good with the sofa on the wall and should I stick with two pieces? The fireplace is on the other side of the coffee table. Was thinking maybe at the far end of the room where the couch table is that I put another chair there? Your thoughts?

You might want to make two separate seating areas in this room, because it is pretty long. Since your TV is down at the end, you could flank it with chairs, and a table between them.
I like the sofa on the wall, and the coffee table has character, so make sure that stays.

Re your photo frames, have you considered a digital photo frame? You can have hundreds of photos on display. You could still have some of your lovely frames on display, but also free up some of your space.

I agree with sstarr93 that the only thing missing in the room is rug. You can go with brown colored shag rug. Keep the rug under the coffee table. Its add on to room.

what would you think of navy blue for this room? I think by placing a sofa ( could be l shaped) perp. to the fireplace with chairs opp. you'd have better viewing of TV and fireplace.

Second photo is just to show chaise feature for additional seating, if needed
