The smaller high hats are more to residential scale than the larger commercial high hats and give you better ventilation around the lamp housing. They are more easily adjustable in the space because of their size. There's also so much more variety when choosing lenses. I try to use the smaller down lights and wall washers whenever I can for ambience and to focus on unexpected artwork and displays. I think they are more versitile than the larger ones.
