How to make my tv background not so dull

rhinecityOctober 7, 2013
This is my tv background, I think it looks a bit dull as the wall paint, furniture and the flooring are so closely related in color. for the time being, I have following thoughts:
1. Inject some turquoise and yellow in it, but don't know how and where;
2. Replace the starburst mirror in the middle by someone more larger scale;
3. use wallpaper in the tv background, but don't know what kind of prints is best, how about imperial trellis by Schumacher?
I am open to any suggestions and changes except the air conditioning in the right side of the TV set as it is fixed in there. Thanks in advance.

I think the lamp shade would be a perfect place to inject your turquoise and yellow.

You also have drapes...right next to the tv area, you can put color there as well.

You're welcome.

It may help to place photos of the whole area. I am guessing there are seating arrangements across from the tv?

I see no rug. Rugs are a great way to inject color. =)

Happy hunting!

Best to go slow with changes, one at a time to be sure you like how each thing is changing the space. Less regrets.

How about centering the tv stand between the end of the wall and the air conditioner? Right now it is centered on the whole wall, pushing the tv too near the air conditioner. Your existing silver decorations might then work wee. The largest over TV, the other two down the wall next to the tv that will be vacant. Paint the wall a brighter color - blue-green, cranberry, or?

@thedarlingsbecca. sounds good, when I get a drill to place the silver work, I will try move the tv stand to the left side to make it centered between the lamp and right side of the air conditioner

You're welcome. =) Well that's good!

If you can tie together your curtains and lampshade...I bet it will brighten up nicely.

The pieces above the tv are very pretty...I like them.

As a suggestion you can get a more colorful shade for the lamp, we just recently used fabric paint to paint a shade of ours (black from white) but it worked a treat so perhaps you could incorporate some color there?

Hi, I had the same problem : ) I do not know what to put at the back of my tv set. I also have two big speakers, just as the one at the picture (but two, plus a cabinet at about the same tall as the speakers. What about those Hallow boxes?

Instead of lots of little things on that wall, what about getting a large entertainment center with doors that close. It would take up more visual space and you could put items on top that are interesting and colorful.

I agree with howellmsue. An entertainment center to hide the TV. Move the floor lamp, remove that other cabinet (?--what is that?) from beside the window no matter what else you decide to do. I think you should already see that adding more to the wall isn't going to solve your problem.

TVCoverUps
rhinecity, you may want to consider TVCoverUps. Framed art(including your own), mirror or panel adds to the room's decor with the hidden TV and Entertainment consoles beneath. Automated and Manual Lift options and allows for TV tilting hardware.
See how EASY it can be:
