love the timeless look of these faucets! Often wall mounts are the only option as in the photo I attached...which unfortunately is before the faucet was installed but I used a very large real clamshell for the lavatory which would not work with a deck mount. Wall faucets are more forgiving when space is at a premium and gunk does not collect around them like deck faucets.

While I prefer a more transitional aesthetic, I chose the foot pedal activated faucet because I think it's a nice alternative to the sensor activated faucets. They are easier to control in many cases than the sensor faucets. Especially if there are hot & cold options or if the amount of pressure you apply with your foot controls the flow of the water. The obvious reasons include sanitary purposes & avoiding fingerprints, which may reduce the use of cleaning supplies & therefore reduce the use of chemicals if green products are not used and/or the cost of those products.

I chose the waterfall because I love the beauty of the water as it cascades from the faucet. But I will admit that I was torn with the functionality of the foot operated faucet - maybe it's time for a hybrid of the two - a foot operated waterfall would be wonderful.

I love the waterfall faucet effect. I installed my faucet after finding the perfect juniper plank with a live edge to form the counter in my small 1/2 bath. It complements the copper vessel sink. The rear wall is chalkboard paint (nice for morning messages or art at will) with the adjacent walls color "stone". I also hand-crafted the light fixtures and used edison bulbs.

All of this is great, BUT....the consumerism of this site is sometimes distressing to me. Now I know everyone wants everything to look perfect, me included. But the truth is, it isn't and isn't going to be. Faucets, lamps, kitchen hardware, etc. can cost thousands. I've learned to live with what I can afford and reasonably believe what is needed.

What is it about the waterfall faucet??? The sleekness of the water has a big part of it, as opposed to rushing out in one big gush. Maybe we don't "need" a waterfall faucet or any of the other luxury items here - but really...looking at all this is just great fun to imagine in your own home, give me a break.

I was going to get one of the waterfall faucets like the above. However, I then read some reviews and took advice from my contractor and plumber. If you buy from a more "exotic" or European company, think about getting parts or making repairs. I went with a more common "brand" still getting the waterfall. Probably the others would have been great, but I am a little more cautious.

I have multiple bathrooms in my residence. I chose the Grohe Eurostyle single-lever faucet for the following reasons. 1. It only takes one hand to turn it on/off and adjust the water temperature. This is a very nice thing when my hands are extremely dirty - I can turn on and adjusted with the back of my wrist. 2. There are 50% less parts than a two-handled faucet (One valve vs. two.) 3. I happen to like the style of this faucet. :)

I used to love Hansgrohe's Solaris faucet line. The wide-spread had a pretty curving spout and the singe handle lever was on a dome. Now with the Solaris E they squared off the spout on the widespread and turned the single-handle dome to a cylinder. Totally ruined the look.

Faucet observations: I love the look of wall-mounted faucets but the water drips behind the sink when wet hands turn them off. Make sure you leave enough room between the sink and the wall to wipe it dry. The taller faucets used for vessel sinks look great, but can be unreachable for kids. The foot pedal is super convenient, especially for kitchens, and relatively easy to install, but will drive your guests crazy. We also have a waterfall faucet in our 'camp'--it used to look great but the iron in the well water has left ugly marks where the water pours out. Lastly, I'll never go back to a two-handle faucet if given the choice,

For a very short time, a couple of years ago, I was seeing pull-out bathroom faucets, but by the time I got around to buying one, I could no longer find any. You know how handy the pull out or pull down kitchen faucet is for rinsing out the sink? It would be just as handy in the bathroom sink for rinsing away toothpaste. Hello! Think about bringing them back.

Interesting, that many of these 'new' faucets now are looking dated. Yet the displays above seem over-the-top. Something great to try while visiting the Madonna Inn, but nothing that would fit the kind of house that gets hard abuse--ie kids and pets (no our pet doesn't use a faucet...at least I don't think he does) I like edgy design--but today i'd like a product built like a tank. I like one of the postings above about a faucet being simple to use, less parts, well crafted....the kids bathroom faucet doesn't seem all bad either...the bowl looks Pickwickian on that white laminate.

Though I like the look of the fixture in the picture with the green mirror, I'd venture that because of the height of the spout above the sink (and maybe the small size of the sink), there could easily be accidental spray outside the sink. We will be building a retirement home, and I'm focused on practicality - thinking I'd like sinks with built-in backsplashes with faucets mounted on the backsplash, to avoid the wet and dirt around the faucets on the deck.

This was really a difficult choice. I wasn't all that fond of any of them. I chose the wall mount because I have seen some wall mounts I really like. The one pictured is a bit too goose necked for me. The digital, waterfall, foot controlled and the like are way to trendy, I can see those being the "1980's bathroom fixtures" of the future. Also, I believe that only a certain bathroom design type can accommodate those faucets. Given that I have a mid-century modern home, where many an unusual design can easily reside, I still would not choose those for my bathrooms.

Single lever is more practical. Easier to control temperature! Wall mount would be my next choice. All the others are pretty fancy and good looking but if they have issues I'm sure they are costly to repair.

I love the single lever faucet that you have at the beginning in the kids room but not a automatic. Those things never work for me and I get sick of playing games with them to try to get them to come on. We are building right now and all my faucets will be single lever one. Also we are farmers and these faucets are the easiest to clean around. The one Rio Brewster posted or the Genivive.

I like the wall mount faucet because we live in a hard water area and lime builds up easily around a deck mount. Wall mount solves that problem and it means less cleaning effort!

the only problem is that when the lime builds up inside a wall-mount faucet, you have to tear out the wall to replace it.

Rio, we've had a wall mount faucet going on 58 years in a 1/2 bathroom and the pipes inside are still running/not clogged by lime. If your pipes are clogged by lime wouldn't you be doing all the pipes in your house anyways? The wall mount means I do not have to keep wiping the deck with a bar mop. I like maintenance free anything.

I love our new powder room and under-mount sink, but don't like having to wipe water spots off the black granite counter (especially problematic around the faucet handles). Next time, I'll go with a lighter counter (or ceramic vessel bowl) and a single-hole mount, automatic faucet like this one (sensor is at the end of the spout, next to the aerator), also available as a wall-mount.

@ Ellen Carlin, you have the very similar taps to the ones we put in our new house-build just last year; both bathrooms have double sinks, so four of these taps altogether. They look and work great, and we got them on discount through our plumber due to the new-build. Easy to clean, and also a little of the sought-after waterfall effect!

I love the look of vintage style bridge faucets. This one looks a little more contemporary in a brushed nickel finish. We recently installed a large bridge faucet in our kitchen and I love that I can easily clean up around and under the fixture. The brushed finishes hide all kinds of water spots until cleaning day too. They're a little pricey but they look high end and very unique.

Has it occurred to anyone that all of the waterfall faucets afford no 'pressure'? That is, you need a focussed stream of water to rinse out a toothbrush (among other things). Waterfall faucets and their ilk simply bloop water out of their orifices and are therefore virtually useless for anything but handwashing.

Also, unless the faucet has a built in aerator (which most all regular faucets have had for decades) water splashes all over the place. Waterfall faucets, by their nature, have no aerator.

Unless they're in a guest powder room, waterfall faucets are virtually useless, and even in a seldom used powder room, the user is guaranteed to splash him/herself / the counter / the mirror / the floor.......
