I heard that good brands make "cheaper" versions of their products and sell them at home depot and lowes. so you think you are getting that good brand's merchandise, but it really isnt up to their usual standard. Is that true??

Bath and Shower taps/faucets: I have been told that while the exterior looks the same, the plumbing parts are replaced with lesser grade pieces. This means that you get the look but not the reliability of a "good brand". plus replacement parts are much harder to get.

I take this from a US-based plumber with whom I am working virtually. Perhaps other US-based houzzers can chip in.

Yes. Thinner finishes on flooring for sure. I was told that by the manufacturer themselves.
