Yes, the room needs some help. First, paint it and you can do all one color, windows, chair rail and heating element. Let’s try working with a dark blue…BM Sea Star.

Plantation shutters on the windows.

A new duvet.

An IKEA bed in black with matching end tables.

Thank you! I was thinking of a blue and maybe painting the trim, window work and such white to maybe brighten the room up.

Here are some bedroom pieces from Bryght that I think would look great in your guest bedroom, the wood finishes coordinate with the existing wood in the space.

Does the bed fit on the windowless wall? If you can put the head of the bed on the wall without windows then add a piece of art to the wall above the bed. If not then art over the end tables only.

I agree with iamjudy, paint everything the same color. Or increase molding size a bit if you want to highlight it. Small rooms like this look best with very few things in them.

The bed frame is perfect, just add a padded headboard. You can make one if you can't find one you like. 2 end tables and 2 lamps, they do not have to match but make them to scale with each other and the room. Some fabric roman shades or insulated cellular shades with a scarf valence would be nice. If you have a bewb light you might want to update it also.

Have fun and keep it simple.

I would do two tones in the room. Paint the lower wall white along with the trim. And the upper wall a pretty blue color. Then do white bedding and layer in some taupe and cocoa colors in the shams and drapes. Choose luxurious fabrics that are super soft to pamper your guests. Then add one pop of color- this room has orange, but you could do pink or yellow as well.
