You're taking a short wall and cutting it in half, so that might not be your best option. Consider something else, like using the subway tile and turning it on it's side so that it draws the eye upward. Or another tile that has some striations in it and do the same thing. I've seen many pretty examples in the tile stores lately. Draw the eye up!
