I would get one rug large enough to ground the sitting area in the living room. Probably an 8 x 10 rug.

We just put laminate flooring down in our home. I read the mantinance page and it said not to use a rubber backed rug on the floor cause the floor has to breath. Now we live in northern Alberta and the snow is starting I don't want to get melted snow on the flooring at the door way where we put our boots I have rubber rugs that I always use in the winter but I don't want to ruin my new floors does anyone have a suggestion? It would help me out greatly asp response please the snow started yesterday

Sue, we have laminate in our place in NV. I've not heard about the "breathing" thing. I don't get it? Laminate is fake wood so I don't understand the rational? I've used rubber backed rugs on mine with no problems. I guess it depends on the particular product. Good luck. :-)

I vote for one rug big enough to at least skim the front edge of your major seating pieces. I'd look for something that brings in a little color and pattern, as everything currently is so neutral. Also, I would lower all your artwork - it appears to be hung a bit high. Good luck with your room.

Thanks Joy. I'm planning on painting the walls aquamarine, adding some blue/brown pillows and maybe a blue/brown rug maybe with a little tangerine? Thanks for the ideas. :-)

Paintcolor, thank you. I am not currently the owner of the home. We're in the process of buying it. But I agree that the pic is too high. And the furniture will be rearranged. I'm planning to move the pic to another room. I prefer cooler colors for this room. It's quite warm in PR so I like the cooler colors. Thanks. :-)
