I am desperate for help picking out counter top

We are remodeling our kitchen. I have butter yellow walls, stainless steel appliances coming, and have ordered custom off white/cream color floor to ceiling cabinets. My floor is going to be several shades of brown in different pattern square tile. Should I go with a darker counter top because my floor has darker shades or should I go with a lighter counter top because of my cabinets and yellow walls. Please someone help me . I am suppose to turn this order in tomorrow and I still cannot decide. We are a family with all boys and my kitchen is my main hub. I spend more time in my kitchen than any where else, and we want it to be warm and inviting. I am very ocd when it comes to cleanliness but even though it is clean even we I cook, I want it to be very warm and happy and cheerful. I would appreciate any comments.

Here's some different photos to give you an idea what it would look like either way. I'd be more inclined especially with an active family to go with a non-light counter top (but probably not really dark either). I also think you'll have a warmer room if you bring some of the browns into the counter tops.

You could choose either countertop color and be ok.

I would choose the lighter color granite because it will look brighter and cleaner.
It will be easier to see any spills and therefore, the counters will be cleaner.

I am attaching a photo of one of our recent projects in San Clemente, CA with dark wood floors and everything else light......We love it and so do our Clients........

I have also attached two kitchens that we didn't design from our "favorites" file......

wildcatwmn, I love the Tuscany kitchen, she used granite and since we are remodeling to get the house ready to sell, we are using a laminae, how would I find a comparison laminate that would be close to that counter tiop. It is perfect, just what I think I am looking for.

Formica makes a "Brazilian brown granite" laminate and a "Butter rum matte granite" laminate. Take a look at those.
