Hi! I've heard that is not recomended to put marble in your kitchen due to detergents! Instead some people recommend granite or Quartz! I'd love to have marble! What do you think?!

This article may help in deciding whether you can live with the maintenance and imperfections of marble.
There is a good article on roomology with alternatives - you can look at quartz, quartzite and granite. http://roomology.wordpress.com/2012/02/27/countertops-that-look-like-white-marble-round-2/

My parents put Corian faux marble, the pattern goes right through the product and it can be shaped. Their kitchen is about 30 years old and still looks good. Not to everyone's taste, but practical. Don't know what it is called in your country.
