Need help with bathroom lighting
jviolinoNovember 12, 2013
Is it ok for recessed lighting to be directly above a bathtub and/or shower stall. My mother in law seems to think this is dangerous but I need extra light in these areas. Please advise!

Yes, but you need special lights that are meant to be in a wet space. I have recessed lights in my bathroom, in the shower area and above the bath.

In one home my electrician refused to install my crystal chandelier in my bathroom. In another he wouldn't install heated towel rack as nowhere in bathroom far enough away from water. Australian codes.
