How to make two different staircases that are visible from one room wo

We added an addition to our house and it has left us with a light maple staircase on one side of the house and a darker stained maple staircase with iron spindles on the other. Both staircases can be seen from the kitchen which we just painted white. What can I do with the light maple staircase without having to replace it as that is way out of the budget. `1

I've had quotes and it would be extremely labour intensive and expensive and the colour may not match. Since the railings are so close together it could look really bad if I get a mismatch. Replacing the entire railing is also thousands of dollars. Hoping for a more economical solution.

Agreed with staining the light maple darker, that should've been taken into consideration during the addition.

Yes, if I end up painting it, black would be my colour of choice. Thanks.

I would still have it stained and hope for a "good enough" match. Natural wood finishes are pretty forgiving because of the wood grain. A painted railing IMHO will look much worse than what you have now. I would make it a priority to replace the spindles with iron to match the new, and do wonder why the plans did not take this into consideration since you've spent some serious money here. The designer should have used the same railing as what you already had if the budget was so tight.
